WICHITA – For the second straight match, the Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team was held without a goal as they were shutout 2-0 by Friends University on Friday night (Sept. 2) in Wichita, Kan.
After winning their two opening exhibition matches in shutout fashion, the Prairie Wolves have been shutout in both of their regular season matches in back-to-back days.
Friends got ahead early as Emma Cuda scored a goal in the seventh minute at the 7:48 mark to put the Falcons up 1-0. The 1-0 score would remain until intermission as NWU was unable to crack the scoreboard.
The Falcons extended their lead early in the second half as Hanna Newhouse scored a goal just over three minutes into the second half. That two goal lead would be more than enough for the Falcons as they shutout NWU.
Nebraska Wesleyan attempted eight total shots in the match, compared to only nine for Friends but the Prairie Wolves just couldn't convert any scoring opportunities.
NWU will look to rebound on Sunday when they travel to Waldorf.
