YORK, Neb. – Three first half goals got the Prairie Wolves ahead early and that was all they needed as the Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team recorded a 4-0 victory at York College on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 13) in cold and rainy conditions.
With the victory, NWU gets their record back to .500 at 3-3 overall, while York College remains winless with a 0-4 mark on the year.
On the same day that she was named the Iowa Conference Player of the Week,
Georgia Straka continued her hot offensive performance with the first two goals of the match. Straka got her first goal at the 16:41 mark on an assist from
Natalie Graves and
Shannon Jerram. Straka struck again at the 24:39 mark with assists from the same two teammates.
Syd Nelson then got into the scoring action for the Prairie Wolves with a goal in the 27
th minute off an assist from
Kaitlyn Sullivan. That made the score 3-0 which would be the result at intermission.
NWU added one final goal in the second half when
Natalie Graves found the back of the net with less than five minutes remaining. Her goal was assisted by
Carah Criner.
Madi Francis posted her second shutout of the year with two saves in goal for the Prairie Wolves.
Nebraska Wesleyan returns home on Friday night to host Presentation College.
