YORK, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team remained undefeated as they posted their third straight shutout with a 1-0 victory over York College on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 13) in York, Neb.
NWU improves to 3-0-2 overall, while York College falls to 1-4.
Nebraska Wesleyan struck early as
Will Weber scored a goal in the third minute off an assist from
Brady Blazek. That goal in the first half would be the only goal of the entire match as the Prairie Wolves held on for the 1-0 victory.
Marco Gutierrez recorded six saves to post the shutout in goal for Nebraska Wesleyan. NWU has not allowed a goal in three straight matches, getting two wins and a draw during that stretch.
On Tuesday, the Prairie Wolves and Panthers battled the elements on a cold, wet and dreary day. Nebraska Wesleyan had seven total shot attempts, compared to eight for York.
This is the first of a busy week of matches for the Prairie Wolves as they play three matches. NWU returns home on Friday night to host Presentation College, then they travel to Grinnell, Iowa on Saturday to face Grinnell College.
