Tigers Power Past Prairie Wolves 15-0 in Tournament Opener

CRETE, Neb. – Doane College pounded out 13 hits and took advantage of six Nebraska Wesleyan errors as the Tigers defeated the Prairie Wolves 15-0 in the first game of the GPAC Postseason Softball Tournament on Wednesday (May 4) at Ledon Field in Crete, Neb.

NWU will now face Dordt College at 4 pm in an elimination game.

Doane led 2-0 as they got three hits in the first inning.  The big inning came in the bottom of the 3rd as the Tigers piled up five runs.  After a pair of NWU errors, Makaela Moore blasted a 3-run home run over the centerfield fence to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead.

The Tigers kept the hits coming in the 4th inning.  Nicole Fernandez blasted a grand slam to put the game past the run rule to end in five innings.

Meanwhile, Ellie Doughty threw a one-hitter for the Tigers on the mound.  The lone Nebraska Wesleyan hit came by Hunter Bailey in the 3rd inning.  That was the only threat for NWU as they had runners on second and third with one out, but the runners were stranded.

The 15-0 loss for NWU was their worst loss since 2010 when they had a 16-0 loss to Lubbock Christian.
