Fast Start Gives Lancers Win Over Prairie Wolves

YANKTON, S.D. – Mount Marty's early lead and hot shooting from the outside gave the Lancers a 87-68 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in a matchup of former GPAC opponents in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon (Dec. 10) at Cimpl Arena in Yankton, S.D.
 
The Lancers got out to an 11-2 lead and made is 28-11 after one quarter which was too much for the Prairie Wolves to overcome.  Mount Marty extended the lead to 52-31 at halftime and maintained the lead in the second half.
 
Ali Kuca and Logan Wagner both made five 3-pointers for the Lancers who finished the game with 13 makes from beyond the arc.  NWU was just 6-25 from beyond the arc in the game.
 
NWU shot just 25% in the first quarter when Mount Marty got out to the fast start.  NWU was 4-16 from the floor in the opening ten minutes.  They would improve their shooting in the second half and finished the game at 40.9 percent.
 
Four different players scored in double figures for the Prairie Wolves led by Morgan Nishida with 14 points.  Nishida was 0-8 from 3-point land, but made 7-10 inside the arc.  Caitlin Navratil scored 13 points with three assist, while Moriah Ceballles came off the bench to score 12 points with a team-high seven rebounds.  Kate Schulte added 11 points and four steals.
 
Wagner led the Lancers with 24 points on 5-9 shooting from 3-point while dishing out six assists.  Kuca had 17 points in the win.
