CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Four second half goals lifted the Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Coe College in IIAC action on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 8) at Lower Kingston Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
NWU has won two straight conference matches to improve to 6-3-3 overall and 2-2 in IIAC action, while Coe remains winless in conference play at 0-3 and 1-10 overall.
Coe started the match ahead as Bobby Charlton scored the initial goal on the day in the 14
th minute to put the Kohawks ahead 1-0. That lead would hold up through intermission as the teams went to the locker room with Coe leading 1-0.
Finally in the second half the Nebraska Wesleyan offense got going and once the scoring started it did not stop.
Drew Miller scored the first of his two goals in the match during the 60
th minute to tie the match at 1-1.
Just over two minutes later,
Will Weber scored his seventh goal of the season on a header off a corner kick to put the Prairie Wolves ahead. Miller added his second goal of the match in the 77
th minute off another setup from
Brady Blazek and
Jake Kennedy.
The final goal of the match came from
Josh Thompson as time was running out of the match. Thompson scored from about 15 yards out to make the final score 4-1.
Nebraska Wesleyan attempted 13 total shots on the day, compared to just four for Coe College.
