Penalty Kick Lifts Warriors Past Wolves

FREMONT, Neb. -- A second half penalty kick goal was the lone goal of the game as Midland University edged Nebraska Wesleyan 1-0 in GPAC men's soccer action on Monday night in Fremont.

The loss is the third straight for the Prairie Wolves after they opened the season at 6-0.  NWU is now 6-3 overall and 0-2 to begin the GPAC portion of their schedule.  Midland remains on top of the league standings at 7-3 and 2-0 in the GPAC.

Both squads were held scoreless in the first half as NWU had eight shot attempts and Midland had six.

Midland finally got on the scoreboard in the second half as Ali Sodal converted a penalty kick in the 55th minute.  That 1-0 lead would hold up as NWU could not find the goal.

The Prairie Wolves finished the match with 14 shot attempts, including eight shots on goal.
