LINCOLN, Neb. -- It was a successful debut at Abel Stadium for the Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team as they defeated Simpson College, 2-0, in the 2015 home opener on Wednesday night (Sept. 16).
After playing their first four matches on the road, the Prairie Wolves finally got to play on their home turf.
NWU didn't waste much time getting on the scoreboard as
Katelin Blosser scored her fourth goal of the year. Blosser collected a goal at the 7:53 mark off a rebounded ball. That would be the only goal the rest of the first half as NWU led 1-0 at intermission.
In the second half, NWU tried to take advantage of playing two players up the final part of the second period as an injury and red card gave Simpson the disadvantage.
NWU got the second goal of the match on a penalty kick by
Laurel Heskett with less than three minutes remaining to seal the victory.
Nebraska Wesleyan improved to 3-2 on the year, while Simpson fell to 2-3.
