LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska Wesleyan scored 26 total runs and piled up 31 hits as the Prairie Wolves got a pair of victories over Dakota Wesleyan in a GPAC softball doubleheader on Friday night (April 10) at University Place Park. NWU won game one, 14-4, then took the second game, 12-4 with both wins coming in five innings due to the run rule.
DWU led 1-0 in the 1st inning of game one, but the Prairie Wolves exploded in the 2nd inning. Nebraska Wesleyan opened the inning with 10 straight batters reaching base safely with seven singles, an error walk and hit batter. The Prairie Wolves put up 13 total runs in the inning.
Betsy Reimer had two singles in the inning with three RBI as seven different players had a hit in the 2nd.Â
Jordan Arndt and
Madison Ethen also had two hits in the inning.
Dakota Wesleyan added two runs in the 3rd and another in the 4th, but it wasn't enough as the game ended early.
NWU finished with 14 hits as eight of the nine starters in the lineup recorded a hit. Ethen was a perfect 3-3 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Reimer was 2-4 with three RBI,
Rachel Kubik,
Jordan Arndt and
Kassie Knauss each had two hits.
Marisa Garver got the win allowing four runs and 10 hits in five innings.
In game two, the Prairie Wolves jumped ahead 3-0 in the 1st inning.Â
Madi Francis had an RBI single and
Jordan Arndt added an RBI hit.
DWU then got their offense going as they scored two runs in the 2nd and two more in the 3rd. The Tigers piled up eight hits in those two innings and led 4-3 after three innings.
Nebraska Wesleyan then turned up the offense in the bottom of the 4th inning. Arndt and
Sally Homan began the inning with doubles then pinch hitter
Nicole Belfiore doubled to bring in another run. Reimer hit an RBI single and
Rachel Kubik doubled to left field for another RBI. Francis concluded the RBI party as she singled to drive in Kubik.
In the 5th inning, Arndt once again doubled to open the inning. She scored on a pinch hit single by Ethen. Brittni Eitzman singled to put two runners on for
Nicole Vana. Vana drove in a run to make the score 10-4. Reimer then ended the game with a triple to left field bringing in two runs.
NWU finished with 17 hits in the second game as five players had multi-hit performances. Arndt was a perfect 3-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Reimer was 3-4 with a triple and three RBI.Â

Megan Cottier got her fifth win on the mound allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings with four strikeouts.Â
The Prairie Wolves look to continue their perfect week in GPAC play as they travel to Yankton, S.D., on Saturday to play Mount Marty College.
