LINCOLN, Neb. --
Nolan Lott pitched a complete game shutout to lead Nebraska Wesleyan to a 4-0 win over Concordia College in game one of a baseball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at NWU Field in Lincoln. The Cobbers came back to win game two, 8-1.
Concordia took three of four games from the Prairie Wolves over the weekend as they improve to 11-2 overall. NWU dropped to 4-10 on the year.
Lott was in control on the mound for the Prairie Wolves in the opening game. He did allow seven hits but struck out five and walked just one throwing just 88 pitches in seven innings. Concordia left nine runners on base with NWU turning two double plays.
The Prairie Wolves scored three runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning.Â
Mark Korsakas got the scoring started with a solo home run over the left field wall.Â
Matt Orozco and
Colby McPike then singled to get two runners on base.Â
Aaron Ochsner drove in Orozco with a single, then Powers grounded out to drive in McPike.
The other run of the game came in the sixth inning as
Dalton Hegeholz doubled and scored on a sac fly by Powers.
Orozco and Ochsner both had two hits to lead the NWU offense.
Game two was dominated by the Cobbers starting pitcher Tanner Kluis. Kluis gave up just one hit in six innings of work. It was the second straight day the Prairie Wolves managed just one hit in a game.
The Cobbers jumped ahead 4-0 early scoring four runs in the top of the first inning and they never looked back. They added four more runs in the top of the 7th inning.
NWU got their lone run in the third inning as they took advantage of two Concordia errors.
