SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Nebraska Wesleyan received the No. 5 seed for the 2015 GPAC Postseason Men's Basketball Tournament when the pairings were announced late Saturday night.Â
The Prairie Wolves will face the No. 4 seed Briar Cliff University on Wednesday night in Sioux City, Iowa. The game will tip-off at 8 pm, following the Briar Cliff-Northwestern women's game.
The winner of the NWU-Briar Cliff game will advance to the GPAC Semifinals and face the winner of #1 Morningside vs. #8 Hastings on Saturday (Feb. 28).
NWU, picked to finish last in the GPAC preseason poll, will be making their third GPAC Postseason Tournament appearance since becoming eligible for the tournament four years ago. The Prairie Wolves are 0-2 in previous tournament games losing at Briar Cliff in 2012 and at Hastings in 2014. This is the second straight season the Prairie Wolves received the No. 5 seed.
NWU and Briar Cliff split their regular season meetings with each team winning on their home court. The Chargers won 97-88 on Dec. 20 in Sioux City, then NWU got a 89-83 win in Lincoln on February 7 when
Trey Bardsley scored 40 points.
The winner of the GPAC Tournament receives an automatic bid to the NAIA II National Tournament in Point Lookout, Mo.
