LINCOLN, Neb. -- The 2015 volleyball season came to a close for Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday night (Nov. 4) with a 3-0 loss to 20th-ranked Concordia University at Snyder Arena. Concordia won in scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-20.
NWU finishes the season with a 9-19 overall record and a 3-13 mark in the GPAC to finish in a four-way tie for 8th place in the league standings.
Concordia improved to 24-7 overall and 12-4 in league play. They also completed their first season sweep over Nebraska Wesleyan since the 2006 season.
The Bulldogs showed why they are a top 20 team in the first set as they rolled to the victory. NWU had a negative hitting percentage in the first set with six kills and seven errors. The Bulldogs went on a 6-0 run and cruised to the 25-13 win.
In the second set, NWU led 14-12 and had Concordia scrambling. The Bulldogs finally took the lead at 19-18 and then outscored NWU 6-1 the rest of the way.
NWU also led in the third set 10-9, but four straight points from the Bulldogs put them in front for good.
Concordia pounded out 54 total kills with just 11 errors for a .368 hitting percentage. NWU had only 27 kills and hit .132.
Malory Dahl and
Kierra Harder each had six kills to pace the Prairie Wolves.
Kelsey Bahe dished out 23 assists and
Kennedy Hegert registered 12 digs.
Concordia was led by Annie Friesen with 15 kills, while Claire White had 13.
