Blosser's Hat Trick Gives NWU Big GPAC Win

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Katelin Blosser scored a goal in the first 30 seconds of the match and that set the tone early as Nebraska Wesleyan picked up a big 3-0 victory over College of Saint Mary in GPAC women's soccer action on Wednesday night (Oct. 7) at Abel Stadium.

Blosser added two more goals in the second half to pick up her second hat trick of the season and give her a team-high eight goals on the year.

With the win, Nebraska Wesleyan improves to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in GPAC play to move up to a tie for second place in the league standings.  CSM was in second place before the loss drops them to 6-3 and 3-2 in league play.

Fans barely got settled into their seats when Blosser lit the scoreboard for the first goal of the match.  Only 29 seconds had ticked off the clock when she controlled a rebounded ball in front of the net and converted the goal.

That would be the lone goal of the first half as the two teams settled in and finished the half 1-0 at intermission.

To start the second half, it was Blosser who came out firing early once again.  This time it was just over three minutes into the half when she got her second goal of the match.

The hat trick would be completed in the 56th minute when Amber Johnson sent a cross to the front of the net and Blosser converted to the back of the goal.

NWU finished with nine total shots on the night with CSM taking six.  Madi Francis recorded two saves as the NWU goalkeeper and added another shutout.

The Prairie Wolves look to extend their winning streak to four on Saturday when they travel to Yankton, S.D., to face Mount Marty College.
