YANKTON, S.D. -- A 2-0 victory over Mount Marty College on Saturday afternoon gave the Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team their fourth straight GPAC victory.
NWU is now in second place in the conference standings at 7-4 overall and 4-1 in league play. Mount Marty remains winless in GPAC action at 0-6, 1-9 overall.
It was a dominating performance for the Prairie Wolves the entire match as they controlled the field in the shutout victory. NWU had 20 total shots in the match, compared to just one shot for the Lancers.
NWU had six shot attempts in the first half, but they were unable to get the ball into the goal. Finally midway through the second half the Prairie Wolves lit up the scoreboard.
Maggie Bianco scored in the 65th minute on an assist by
Annemarie Becker.
Only three minutes later, the Prairie Wolves added another goal as
Amber Johnson got into the action with a goal. That 2-0 cushion would hold up as the Prairie Wolves recorded their fourth straight shutout victory.
