LINCOLN, Neb. -- 11th-ranked Northwestern College swept past Nebraska Wesleyan 3-0 in GPAC volleyball action on Friday night at Snyder Arena in Lincoln. The Red Raiders won in scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-12.
NWU remains winless in conference play as they fall to 0-10 in the GPAC and 6-16 overall and have not won a home match this season. Northwestern moves to 20-5 and 8-2 in GPAC play.
Northwestern held NWU to a .024 team hitting percentage as the Prairie Wolves had 26 kills and just 23 errors. The Red Raiders had 37 total kills and posted a .198 hit percentage.
NWU led 9-7 in the first set, but like many times this year the opposition went on a big run. Northwestern went on a 8-0 run to take a 15-9 lead and they never looked back.
The Prairie Wolves got out to a 8-7 lead in the second set before the Red Raiders got going to go on a 6-1 run and lead 13-9. NWU maintained and trailed just 19-17 but scored only two points the rest of the way.
The third set was controlled by Northwestern as they jumped ahead 15-6 and never allowed NWU to climb back in it.
NWU was led by
Kierra Harder and
Malory Dahl who each had seven kills.
Kennedy Hegert registered 15 digs and
Kelsey Bahe had 20 assists.
Northwestern had Karlie Schut get 11 kills on the night.
The Prairie Wolves are right back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host Briar Cliff in the Dig Pink match.
