LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska Wesleyan football team returns to Abel Stadium on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 17) to host Dordt College in Great Plains Athletic Conference action. Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Defenders is set for 1 pm.
NWU enters Saturday's match up with a 2-4 overall record and 1-4 mark in the GPAC. Dordt brings a 1-5 overall, 0-4 GPAC record to Lincoln.
The Prairie Wolves aim to get their first home win of the year as they are playing for just the third time at Abel Stadium. NWU is ready to rebound from two disappointing losses to local rivals Doane and Concordia the past two weeks. Expect the Prairie Wolves to establish the running game against the Defender defense that is last in the GPAC in stopping the run. On defense, the Prairie Wolves will be tested by the Dordt option run game that leads the conference at 266 yards a game.
Dordt picked up their first win of the year last week as they stepped out of conference and rolled past Trinity Bible College 63-13. Since starting football in 2008, the Defenders have won only 2 GPAC football games. However, they did snap their 51-game losing streak last season with a 24-20 win over Nebraska Wesleyan in Sioux Center.
Fans not attending the game can watch the game live via webcast from the NWU Sports Network or listen live on KFOR 1240AM/103.3 FM or online at kfornow.com.
