SEWARD, Neb. -
Jake Kennedy scored a goal in the first six minutes of the match to set the tone early as the Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team shutout Concordia University, 3-0, in a GPAC soccer match on Wednesday night at Bulldog Stadium in Seward.
NWU picks up their second straight conference victory to improve to 8-4 overall and 2-3 in GPAC play.
Kennedy was the star of the match for the Prairie Wolves as he scored two goals and assisted on the other lifting NWU to the win. His first goal came in the 5th minute to give NWU an early 1-0 lead.
Later in the half, Kennedy scored again this time sending the ball to the right corner of the goal for his team-leading ninth goal of the season. That made the score 2-0 which would be the score at intermission.
In the second half, the Prairie Wolves continued to put pressure on the Bulldogs with their attacking style.
Brady Blazek got into the scoring act in the second half as he took an assist from Kennedy for his sixth goal of the year.
The three goal lead was too much for Concordia to overcome as
Jack Nespor and
Christian Lomax combined for the shutout. NWU finished the match with 10 total shot attempts, with Concordia getting off 15 attempts but not connecting on any.
NWU will be back in action on Saturday evening as they host Morningside College at 7:00 pm at Abel Stadium.
