Prairie Wolves Take Four To Start 8-0

St. Paul, Minn -- The Nebraska Wesleyan University volleyball team kept their perfect season alive as they won all four matches at the Bethel University Invitational in Minnesota on Friday and Saturday.  NWU is now 8-0 to start the 2014 season.

On Friday, the Prairie Wolves opened play by making quick work of Concordia College (Minn.) defeating the Cobbers 3-0 in scores of 25-23, 25-14, 25-12.  Malory Dahl and Katelyn Walsh both pounded out nine kills  to pace the team.  Kelsey Bahe dished out 20 assists, while Mackenzie Ashton had 20 digs.

In the next match of the afternoon, Nebraska Wesleyan took on St. Olaf College and also won in straight sets, 25-16, 25-21, 25-18.  NWU had nine total blocks and hit .281 as a team with 36 kills.  Alyssa Stanek had eight kills and six total blocks for the Prairie Wolves.  Dahl had nine kills to lead the team, with Bahe handing out 17 assist.  Makayla Westphal recorded 14 digs.

Play got started early Saturday morning for the Prairie Wolves.  NWU met up with Luther College and came out on top in four sets winning 25-13, 20-25, 25-20, 25-13.  It was once again Stanek that had the big match for the Prairie Wolves as she had a double-double with 15 kills and 10 blocks.  Walsh chipped in 11 kills, while Alexa Rosenau had a team-high 23 assists.  Ashton led the team with 18 digs.

To close out the invitational, the Prairie Wolves took on the host school, Bethel University.  NWU picked up their eighth victory of the season with a 3-0 win in scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-22.  Walsh was the team leader in kills with 10, with Bridget Bucher chipping in nine kills.  Rosenau dished out 18 assists with 10 digs and Mackenzie Ashton had a team high 21 digs.

Alyssa Stanek and Katelyn Walsh were both selected to the Bethel Invitational All-Tournament Team.
