LINCOLN, Neb. -- Concordia shot 64.5 percent from the field in the second half and outscored Nebraska Wesleyan by 18 points in the second half as the Bulldogs defeated the Prairie Wolves 96-78 in GPAC men's basketball action on Wednesday night (Dec. 10) at Snyder Arena.
NWU remains winless in GPAC play at 0-4, 2-6 overall while Concordia improves to 6-6, 3-4 GPAC.
The two teams played even basketball the first 30 minutes of the game, but the final 10 minutes were not good for the Prairie Wolves. With the score tied 59-59 at the 9:53 mark, Concordia went on a 13-4 run to go up by nine points. After NWU pulled within six points the Bulldogs once again went on a big run. During a stretch of four minutes Concordia dominated the Prairie Wolves 18-4 to go ahead by 20 points and the game was over.
Concordia, which had scored over 80 points three times in the first 11 games, had a season-high 96 points. The Bulldogs shot 55.2 percent from the floor and went 26-33 from the free throw line. Chandler Folkerts was a force in the paint for the Bulldogs with 22 points, 10 rebounds. Former NWU player Micah Kohlway scored 16 points for Concordia.
Nebraska Wesleyan made just 7-27 from 3-point range and played at a slower pace for much of the game. The Prairie Wolves hit 40.0 percent from the floor and went 15-23 from the free throw line.
