LINCOLN, Neb. -- A physical men's soccer match between in-state rivals ended in a 2-2 draw on Wednesday evening (Oct. 15) as Nebraska Wesleyan and Concordia remained tied after two overtimes at Abel Stadium.
Luke Thaller scored on a header for the Prairie Wolves with just under 1:30 left in regulation to tie the match and send it into overtime at 2-2. In the overtime periods, there were 12 fouls called but only six shots attempted as neither team could score the game-winner.

NWU answered in the 23' as
Alex Thorson came up with a loose ball off a rebound and put the ball in goal for his second goal on the year. The match would remained tied at 1-1 at intermission.
In the second half, Dean Stevens put Concordia ahead as he got loose on a breakaway and got the ball past the NWU goalie to give the Bulldogs the 2-1 advantage. It looked like that is how the match would end on the scoreboard until later in the half. NWU had a great opportunity to tie it back up with a penalty kick, but
Will Weber couldn't convert as Concordia remained ahead.
In the final minutes of regulation, Weber stepped up with a big play as he sent a cross right in front of the goal setting up Thaller with the game-tying goal on a perfectly placed header.
The match ended with 40 total fouls, eight yellow cards and two red cards.
NWU will close out their three-match homestand on Saturday afternoon with a match against Briar Cliff.
