Cook Scores Career-High 26 in Loss to Hastings

Box Score Courtney Cook scored a career-high 26 points and had pulled down 10 rebounds but it wasn't enough as 10th-ranked Hastings College defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 88-61 in GPAC women's basketball action on Wednesday night (Jan. 8) at Snyder Arena.

Cook was 9-17 from the field and 8-10 at the free throw line for her double-double, but turnovers were too costly for the Prairie Wolves who dropped their 12th straight game.

NWU (1-12, 0-8 GPAC) committed 26 total turnovers as they were playing short-handed without starting guard Kelly Sanchez.  The Prairie Wolves fell behind 43-23 at halftime and were outscored by just eight points in the second half.

Hastings College (16-2, 7-2 GPAC) shot just 38.1 percent from the field but had nearly double the shot attempts as the Prairie Wolves.  The Broncos shot 32-84 from the floor compared to 20-47 for NWU.

Four players were in double figures for Hastings led by Cami Bruckman with 20 points.

Besides Cook's 26 points, three other NWU players had 10 points.  Bridget Bucher, Felicia TeKolste and Amanda Diaz each reached double figures.
