Box Score Nebraska Wesleyan improved to 8-0 to start the 2013 season as the Prairie Wolves went 4-0 at the Bethel Volleyball Invitational over the weekend in St. Paul, Minn. NWU has now gone 4-0 at both opening season tournaments against NCAA III competition.The Prairie Wolves opened the invitational on Friday (Sept. 6) with a 3-1 win over Concordia-Moorhead and that was the only match the Prairie Wolves dropped a set as they swept the next three matches. They defeated Luther, 3-0, on Friday then ran past St. Olaf and Bethel in straight sets on Saturday. NWU senior All-American
Mackenzie Hite was named the tournament MVP and selected to the All-Tournament Team, while
Alyssa Stanek also was named to the All-Tourney team.In the opening win over Concordia, the Prairie Wolves hit .273 as a team with
Katelyn Walsh leading the way with 14 kills. Stanek and
Malory Dahl each had 11 kills with Hite recording 19 digs.Against Luther, Walsh again led the way with 12 kills while Stanek added 10 and three blocks.
Alexa Rosenau handed out 23 assists.On Saturday, the Prairie Wolves dominated St. Olaf winning 25-11, 25-17, 25-6 as St. Olaf had a negative hitting percentage. NWU hit .407 as Walsh had 10 kills and Stanek provided nine and a .750 attack percentage.The final match was against the host school Bethel, the Prairie Wolves won 25-15, 26-24, 25-15. Walsh had 12 kills, while Dahl had nine. Stanek had six blocks and eight kills.
