Prairie Wolves Upset #19 Dordt in Straight Sets

Box Score In just its second home match of the season, the Nebraska Wesleyan University volleyball team had one of its most impressive victories of the year as they upset 19th-ranked Dordt College, 3-0, in GPAC volleyball on Friday night (Sept. 27) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln.



NWU won in straight sets, 26-24, 25-22, 25-21, marking the first time since the 1988 season that Nebraska Wesleyan defeated Dordt in three sets.



Set one was tied 24-24 after Brooke Wolterstoff got a kill for the Defenders and a ball handling error was called on NWU. From there, Alyssa Stanek recorded a big kill and the set was won on a set error by Dordt.



The Prairie Wolves never trailed in the second set and scored four straight points to build up a 17-13 lead. Dordt rallied back and pulled within 24-22, but a service error won the set for NWU.



Nebraska Wesleyan broke out of a 11-11 tie with three points for the Prairie Wolves to go ahead 14-11. NWU looked to be in control with a 22-16 lead, but Dordt rallied back to make it 23-21. After a timeout, Dordt had back-to-back errors giving NWU the big victory.



Malory Dahl led the Prairie Wolves with nine kills, while Alyssa Stanek and Mackenzie Ashton each had eight kills. Stanek had five blocks, while Mackenzie Hite had 20 digs.



Dordt had 46 total kills with Brooke Wolterstorff leading the way with 12 kills.
