Simpson and NWU Tie 1-1 in Men's Soccer

Box Score Simpson College scored a goal in the 83rd minute to tie the score at 1-1 and that would be the final score as Nebraska Wesleyan and Simpson tied 1-1 in double overtime in a men's soccer match on Wednesday night (Sept. 11) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.

The up and down match gave both teams chances to score in the overtime periods but neither could find the open net.

Nebraska Wesleyan took the lead in the final seconds of the first half as Colby Twist took an errant Storm pass and scored with 31 seconds remaining in the period putting NWU up 1-0 at halftime.

The Prairie Wolves continued to hold the Storm at bay in the second half, with several key saves by goalkeeper Turner Mead. However, a good pass from the corner by Marcus Varnum found Cody Jacobson in front of the goal and he converted to tie the match.

For Simpson, it was their first tie of the season as they entered the match with a perfect 3-0 record. NWU now goes to 2-1-1 on the year.
