Box Score Nebraska Wesleyan recorded its 20th win of the year in the regular season finale on Saturday (Nov. 2) as the Prairie Wolves came back to defeat Morningside College, 3-1, in GPAC Volleyball action in Snyder Arena.
NWU won in scores of 26-28, 25-17, 25-23, 25-19. The Prairie Wolves finish their regular season portion of the schedule with a 20-8 overall record and a 10-6 mark in the GPAC to finish fifth in the league standings.
The first set was a back-and-forth battle between the Mustangs and Prairie Wolves. NWU had two set point chances, but Morningside answered back both times. The final point was on an apparent free ball that landed free between two NWU players giving Morningside the 28-26 win.
NWU made a statement in the second set as they jumped ahead 8-2 and never looked back. In set three, The Prairie Wolves led 24-20 and finally closed out the Mustangs with a kill by Mallory Dahl to win 25-23.
To close the match the Prairie Wolves led 12-6 and didn't allow Morningside to get closer than within three points. A hitting error by the Mustangs ended the match 25-19.
Alyssa Stanek accounted for 20 points in the match as she had 12 kills, seven total blocks and three service aces.
Malory Dahl added 10 kills.
Mackenzie Hite had 21 digs in her final home match, while
Alexa Rosenau handed out 20 assists with five blocks.
Nebraska Wesleyan now must wait until November 11 to find out if they receive an At-Large bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
