After getting swept 3-0 earlier this season in Lincoln, Doane College returned the favor on Wednesday night (Oct. 30) in Crete, Neb., as the Tigers swept past Nebraska Wesleyan 3-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball action.
With the loss, the Prairie Wolves drop to 19-8 overall and 9-6 in the GPAC and assure themselves of a fifth place finish in the league standings. Doane evened up their record at 15-15 and improved to 6-8 in the GPAC.
NWU never got any momentum going in the match as the Tigers got the early lead in each set and never let the Prairie Wolves back in.
Doane controlled the net with 15 blocks and forced Nebraska Wesleyan into 21 attack errors. The Tigers did have 10 service errors to keep the Prairie Wolves in the match, but NWU did not take full advantage of the mistakes.
Nebraska Wesleyan had just 35 kills with a swing percentage of only .132.
Katelyn Walsh and
Bridget Bucher each had six kills to lead the way.
Mackenzie Hite recorded 11 digs to pace the Prairie Wolves in defensive stats.
The Tigers had two players in double figures in kills with Ashley Axmann pounding out 16 and Abby Sorensen adding 14.
NWU will play their final home match of the season on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 2) when they host Morningside College at Snyder Arena.
