Final Road Test For NWU Football

(Game Notes)

Coming off its bye week, the Nebraska Wesleyan University football team returns to action this Saturday (Nov. 2) as they travel to Mitchell, S.D., to face Dakota Wesleyan University in a key GPAC contest.  It is the final road test for the Prairie Wolves when they clash with the Tigers at 1 pm at Joe Quintal Field.

Nebraska Wesleyan (4-3, 4-2 GPAC) and Dakota Wesleyan (5-3, 4-2) are two of the five teams that are currently tied for second place in the GPAC standings with three weeks remaining.  NWU and DWU both enter Saturday's game after winning four of their last five games. The Prairie Wolves last action was a 28-0 shutout win over Dordt College on Oct. 19 in Lincoln.  DWU got a last minute TD for a 20-17 win at Midland last Saturday in Fremont, Neb.

It will be a battle of two of the top units in the GPAC as the tough Prairie Wolves run defense will face the top running back in the NAIA.  DWU running back Francois Barnaud leads the country averaging 172.1 yards per game, while the Prairie Wolves defense is allowing just 124.4 yards per game on the ground.

Dakota Wesleyan has a powerful offense that scores over 30 points and puts up well over 440 yards per game.  They will be tested by the Nebraska Wesleyan defense that allowed just one team this year to score over 20 points and given up just 12 offensive touchdowns all year.

The game can be heard live on KFOR 1240 AM or online at kfor1240.com with Dick Janda calling the action.
