Box Score Nebraska Wesleyan extended its conference winning streak to three matches as the Prairie Wolves went on the road and defeated Concordia University, 3-1, in GPAC Volleyball action on Tuesday night (Oct. 1) in Seward.
NWU defeated the Bulldogs in four sets, 25-19, 27-25, 19-25, 25-18. The victory moves the Prairie Wolves to 13-2 overall, 5-2 in the GPAC and tied for fourth in the league standings. The Bulldogs fall to 12-8, 3-6 in GPAC.
Nebraska Wesleyan took the first set in routing fashion, but had to battle for the 27-25 win in set two. Concordia stepped up their play in the third set to down NWU and keep the match alive with the set victory, but NWU flexed their muscle in set four for a 25-18 win to take the match.
Four different NWU players reached double digits in kills in the match.
Alyssa Stanek led the way with 14 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. She also had five blocks in the match.
Malory Dahl and
Katelyn Walsh each had 11 kills, while
Mackenzie Ashton had 10 kills.
Alexa Rosenau dished out 26 assists and
Mackenzie Hite recorded 31 digs.
For Concordia, Claire White had a match-high 16 kills.
Nebraska Wesleyan now has its most important weekend of the season as they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to take part in the Spike it Up Classic hosted by Colorado College. NWU will face four NCAA III opponents to try to improve their resume for the NCAA Postseason play. The Prairie Wolves open up with a match against #11 Colorado College on Friday.
