Lee Steinbrook is the head tennis coach of both the men’s and women’s program at Nebraska Wesleyan University. He was hired to coach the Prairie Wolves men in May 2019, then took on duties as the women’s head coach in December 2019.
In his first year as coach of the Prairie Wolves, Steinbrook had an abbreviated season that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. His men’s team played just three duals going 0-3 during the spring 2020 season. The women did not officially compete during the spring season.
Steinbrook has been heavily involved coaching and teaching tennis in the city of Lincoln for the past 15 years. He spent 13 years as the Tennis Director at Lincoln Country Club growing the program from 20 kids to over 150 when he left in 2017.
He is the founder of the Lee Steinbrook Tennis Academy where he coached and developed kids from 2007-17. During that time, his players won over 200 Nebraska High School State Tennis medals including over 50 gold and silver medals.
Most recently, he started the Northstar Tennis Academy where he began working in 2014. The non-profit academy was setup for high school tennis players new to the game. He produced players that won 10 state medals, including a State Champion and State Runner-up.
Steinbrook is familiar to Nebraska Wesleyan athletics having served as an assistant men’s basketball coach for two seasons (2004-06) with the Prairie Wolves. He began his coaching career as a head high school basketball coach. Steinbrook coached at Norfolk Catholic and Elmwood-Murdock leading teams to the State Basketball Tournament. He was also a college assistant at Hastings College.
He is a 1996 graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln earning a degree in education. Steinbrook was a letterwinner in basketball for the Cornhuskers playing from 1993-95.
