Lee Steinbrook has been hired as the new head women’s tennis coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University.
Steinbrook was hired on May 31 to be the head men’s tennis coach at NWU and now will assume coaching duties with the women’s program as well.
He takes over a Prairie Wolves women’s tennis program that went 2-6 during the 2019 Fall portion of their schedule competing against American Rivers Conference opponents. They had three players earn All-Conference honors, including freshman Brooke Sailer who was 1st-Team All-Conference in singles and doubles.
Steinbrook has been heavily involved coaching and teaching tennis in the city of Lincoln for the past 15 years. He spent 13 years as the Tennis Director at Lincoln Country Club and was the founder of the Lee Steinbrook Tennis Academy where he coached and developed kids from 2007-17. He also started the Northstar Tennis Academy that was setup for high school tennis players new to the game.
A 1996 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Steinbrook was a letterwinner in basketball for the Cornhuskers playing from 1993-95. He served as an assistant basketball coach for two seasons at Nebraska Wesleyan (2004-06) working with the Prairie Wolves men’s basketball program.
Steinbrook replaces Fungai Tongoona who was the head coach of the Prairie Wolves women’s team the past two years.
