Greg Fleming

Greg Fleming enters his sixth season as the head swimming coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University.  Fleming was hired to start the NWU program in June 2013.
 
In his first five seasons, Coach Fleming has already earned Liberal Arts Championships Men’s Coach of the Year honors three times.  His men’s teams have posted a dual record of 25-3, having gone undefeated three times.
 
Last season, Fleming led the Prairie Wolves men to their first Liberal Arts Championships team title and the women had their highest ever finish at 5th.  NWU men went 7-1 in dual competition and the women finished 2-6.  Coach Fleming had two swimmers earn CoSIDA Academic All-American honors and for the second straight year one of his swimmers was named the Liberal Arts Championships Swimmer of the Meet. 
 
During the 2018 season, Coach Fleming led the Nebraska Wesleyan men to an undefeated 6-0 dual record and the Prairie Wolves were once again second place at the Liberal Arts Championships.  Under his guidance, Garrett Cadotte qualified for the NCAA III Championships in three different events, earning All-American honors in two events.  He was the national runner-up in the 100 Butterfly, the highest ever finish for an NWU swimmer.  NWU tied for 19th overall in the team standings at the 2018 NCAA III Championships.
 
The 2016-17 saw Fleming continuing to grow the Prairie Wolves programs.  His men’s team finished second at the Liberal Arts Championships, moving up one spot from the previous year.  The NWU men were also a perfect 3-0 in dual competition during the 2016-17 season. 
 
In year two leading the Prairie Wolves swimming programs, Fleming showed marked improvement from the first year.  NWU had their first NCAA III All-American, the men were a perfect 4-0 in duals and finished 3rd at the Liberal Arts Championships and the women improved their finish to 7th at the Liberal Arts Championships.  NWU had six men named to the LAC All-Championship team, including winning six different individual events.
 
In the first season of swimming, Fleming recruited 19 student athletes to the program.  The NWU men’s team had a dual record of 5-2, with the women finishing 1-6.  At the Liberal Arts Championship to end the year, the Prairie Wolves men were 6th and the women brought home 9th place.  Four members of the Prairie Wolves squad earned All-Championship Team recognition at the Liberal Arts Championships.
 
Through five seasons, Fleming has compiled a combined dual record of 31-25 between the men’s and women’s programs.  His teams have won one Liberal Arts Championship and three American Rivers/Iowa Conference championships.
 
Outside the pool, both the NWU women and men were named Division III Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America in each of the five seasons.  His program has produced two swimmers that combined to win three CoSIDA Academic All-Amerian awards.

Fleming is a longtime swimming coach in Lincoln serving as the Head Boys & Girls Swimming & Diving Coach at Lincoln East High School for the past 29 years. With the Spartans he had a combined dual record of 496-32 winning two state championships and nine state runner-up finishes.

While coaching at Lincoln East, Fleming had a combined 94 state individual/relay event state champions and coached 35 All-Americans. His teams won 18 boys and 14 girls Greater Nebraska/Heartland Conference titles and 29 total Lincoln City Championships. He was the Nebraska Swimming Coaches Association Boys Coach of the Year in 2012 and as twice been named Swimming Coach of the Year by the Nebraska Coaches Association.

Fleming has worked for Lincoln Public Schools since 1982 serving as the Student Services Coordinator at Lincoln East since 1992. He received his bachelor of science in education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and earned his masters of education in educational leadership from Doane College. He and his wife Becky have two sons, Ryan and Josh.
