Leah Atherton begins her first season as an assistant women’s soccer coach for Nebraska Wesleyan in 2016.
Coach Atherton adds six years of coaching experience to the NWU women’s program. She is the head coach for the nationally recognized Elite Girls Academy. She also is an assistant coach/Head JV coach for the Lincoln East High School boys soccer program. She holds a NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 1 & 2 License, as well as a NSCAA Level 5 qualification.
The Lincoln, Neb., native is a graduate of Lincoln Southeast High School. She played NCAA Division II soccer at Minnesota State University, Mankato between 2005-07 before a promising collegiate career was halted by injury. She graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State, Mankato in Business Management: Administration & Gerontology.
