Ed Meitzen begins his first season at Nebraska Wesleyan for the 2023-24 school year.
He is currently the Head Coach for Lincoln North Star High School going into his fifth season with the program. Under his guidance, the program has won its first two district games in the school's 21-year history in 2022 and 2023. He has also coached club soccer for Sporting Nebraska FC for the past six years. Coach Meitzen is also active with USYS Olympic Development program being on the Region II staff for the past two seasons working on both the boys and girls side.
Prior to coming to Nebraska Wesleyan, Meitzen served as Goal Keeper coach for Iowa Western Community College in 2022-23 helping the team capture the NJCAA Division I Women's National Title. Under his guidance all three keepers at one point in the season earned NJCAA National Goal Keeper of the week honors. Prior to IWCC Meitzen work as Assistant/GK coach for Men's and Women's Soccer at Southeast Community College helping to launch both programs in 2020. On the women's side, they were able to capture the NJCAA Region IX title in 2020 and 2021, and on Men's side, after a zero-win first season in 2020, Meitzen was able to assist the team to a 7-8-1 record in 2021.
Meitzen holds his USSF D License, United Soccer Coaches Advanced National, and Goalkeeper licenses.
Coach Meitzen resides in Lincoln, NE with his wife, Leticia, and two children, Analise and Aiden.
