Alf Bilbao

Alf Bilbao begins his first season as an assistant women’s soccer coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University.  His main duties will be recruiting for the Prairie Wolves program.
 
Bilbao has been a head coach at the collegiate level for 23 years.  Most recently he was head women’s soccer coach at Drury University compiling an overall record of 116-111-36.  His 116 victories are a school record.  He led the Panthers to a Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship in 2007 advancing to the NCAA II round of 16 for the first time in program history.  He coached 27 All-GLVC selections and had seven All-Midwest Region selections.  In addition, his teams garnered numerous academic awards including the Team Academic Award from United Soccer Coaches for nine straight years.
 
For three seasons at Drury, Bilbao also served as the head men’s soccer coach posting a record of 43-27-10.  He led the Panthers men to a top 25 national ranking in his second and third seasons.
 
Bilbao started his coaching career at Truman State University where he was the men’s coach for seven seasons.  He led TSU to a top 25 finish in five of seven seasons with three trips to the NCAA II Tournament.  In 2003, he led Truman State to a 19-0 regular season record earning Central Region Coach of the Year.  He left Truman State with a school record 96 victories and a .716 winnning percentage posting a 96-28-10 overall record.
 
A native of Hillsboro, Oregon, Bilbao played at Truman State from 1988-92.  He earned a degree in exercise science while serving as an assistant coach.  Following graduation, he was a high school assistant coach in Lake Zurich, Ill., for one season before moving to Des Moines, Iowa to play for the Des Moines Menace of the Premier Developmental League.  He also made a coaching stop at Central College, leading both the men’s and women’s program for one year.
 
Bilbao is the father of three children, Aidan (18), Abby (16) and Keegan (11).
