Steve Pointon begins his second season as an assistant soccer coach at Nebraska Wesleyan in 2019.
Pointon, a native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, has been involved with coach soccer in Lincoln since he moved her in 2013. He was an assistant soccer coach at Lincoln East High School from 2013-17 and is currently the Junior Varsity Head Coach at Lincoln High School. Pointon also helps with the Soccer Academy through the Lincoln YMCA.
When he moved to the USA in 2007, Pointon served as an assistant coach at Allen Park (Michigan) High School working with both the boys and girls soccer programs at the varsity and junior varsity levels.
He began his coaching career with Ireland’s largest micro soccer program in 2005. He played and coached at soccer various levels growing up in Northern Ireland.
Pointon is currently the Pastor at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. He has a degree in Law & Politics as well as professional qualifications in Youth Leadership Development, Lay Ministry, Business Management, Conflict Management and Peacemaking. He holds a USSF National “F” License and is a certified and accredited NFHS Interscholastic Coach.
He is married to Rev. Dr. Melodie Jones Pointon and they have two children, Phoebe and Eli.
