Grant Johannes

Grant Johannes begins his fourth season as a coach for the Nebraska Wesleyan soccer programs.  This year he will serve as the Head Assistant Coach and the High Performance Coach for both the men’s and women’s squads.

In 2014, Johannes was the Interim Head Coach of the NWU men’s and women’s soccer programs.  He led the Prairie Wolves women to a 8-6-3 overall record and a 4-4-2 record in conference play to finish in sixth place in the GPAC standings.  Johannes’ men’s team went 7-9-1 overall and 3-6-1 in GPAC play.

The former NWU soccer standout spent two seasons as an assistant coach under Sean Steele.  In that role he was instrumental in practice planning, recruiting and preseason training programs.

Johannes, a native of Manhattan, Kan., was a three-year letterwinner in soccer for the Prairei Wolves from 2009-11.  He was a two-time honorable mention All-GPAC selection.  As a senior he was a team captain and started 17 games at defender.  He finished his career with five goals and seven assists in 51 career matches.

Johannes graduated in 2012 from Nebraska Wesleyan with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.  He is currently pursuing a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.  Johannes also serves as a strength coach for the NWU Athletic Department.
