Chris Hamilton begins his fourth year as an assistant coach at Nebraska Wesleyan in 2021-22. Hamilton also serves as a strength and conditioning coach for the NWU Athletic Department.
In his first two seasons working at NWU, he helped the Prairie Wolves to a 52-6 record, winning 89.6 percent of their games. Those two seasons included back-to-back American Rivers Conference regular-season and tournament championships, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament both seasons.
In his time at NWU, Hamilton has assisted with the development of 10 All Conference performers, three All-Americans, and the two winningest classes in school history (2019 - 99 wins and 2020 - 100 wins).
Hamilton came to NWU from Randolph-Macon College, a NCAA Division III powerhouse in Virginia, where he was an assistant for his alma mater for two seasons (2016-17, 2017-18.) In each of those seasons, R-MC won/shared the Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular-season championship. Each of Hamilton’s two season’s on staff, the Yellow Jackets also ranked in the top ten in the nation in scoring defense.
During his days as a player at R-MC, Hamilton helped the Yellow Jackets post a record of 90-27 (.769) over his four-year career from 2011-15. R-MC won two ODAC regular-season and ODAC Tournament crowns each, earning four consecutive bids to the NCAA Tournament. The Yellow Jackets reached the Sweet Sixteen in 2013 and the Elite Eight in 2015. One of the top long-range shooters in program history, Hamilton ranks sixth in program history with 171 career three-pointers and shot 43.5 percent from behind the arc.
Hamilton began his coaching career in 2015-16 as a graduate assistant at NCAA Division I Mount St. Mary’s in Maryland. The Mountaineers were 15-15 overall and 11-7 in the Northeast Conference, featuring a roster of five future professional players. Hamilton completed a Master of Science degree in Sports Management from The Mount.
A native of Bellbrook, Ohio, and a graduate of Bellbrook High School, Hamilton was a two-time ODAC All-Academic selection. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business/Economics from RMC in 2015. Hamilton was also Vice President of RMC’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
