Biography

2016: Started eight games at linebacker for the NWU defense … was sidelined two games with injury … ended the year fifth on the team with 42 total tackles … made 5.5 tackles-for-loss accumulating 12 yards … twice had season-high total of nine tackles … first game was against Illinois Wesleyan with seven solo stops and nine total … also had nine tackles at nationally-ranked Dubuque … in win at Simpson had seven tackles with 2.5 TFLs and 0.5 QB sacks … ended the year with 2.5 TFLs and six tackles in win over Loras.

2015: Played in seven games, getting the start at linebacker in the final two games of the season … had 25 total tackles in seven games … ended the year with season-high 11 total tackles including eight solo stops against Hastings College … recorded 2.5 tackles for loss versus the Broncos … had eight tackles with six solo in the upset win over Northwestern College.

Academic: Political Science major.

In High School: A two-year starter in football at Regis Jesuit High School in Colorado … led team to playoffs in every season including a state appearance as a senior … also participated in track & field.

Personal: Born 6/15/1996 … son of Steve VanLiew and Andrea Geary.
