Paul Harris

Paul Harris will enter his tenth consecutive season and 19th overall season at Nebraska Wesleyan. Currently, Harris is the special teams coordinator and coaches the Prairie Wolves defensive backs. Harris was on NWU’s staff from 1995-2004 then returned to the sidelines in 2016 after working in the business industry.

Since returning to the sidelines, Harris has mentored four All-Conference players, including Karrell Simpson, who ranked third in the American Rivers Conference with four interceptions during the 2021 season.

In Harris’s first stint at Nebraska Wesleyan, he guided seven student-athletes on the defensive line to be All-Americans, including three first or second team All-Americans. Additionally, Harris mentored more than a dozen student-athletes to All-Conference accolades. In that span, Harris was a key coaching piece in NWU’s 2000 Conference Championship and playoff appearance.

Prior to joining Nebraska Wesleyan, Harris spent four seasons at the University of Nebraska as an undergraduate assistant coach for the defensive secondary and assisted with film breakdown and scouting. During his time with the Huskers, Harris helped coach multiple NFL draft picks and All-Americans and won four conference championships, made four bowl games, and coached in a national championship game.

A native of Waterbury, Connecticut, Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Nebraska in 1993. Harris and his wife, Nichole, reside in Lincoln with their two children, Christian and Reagan. Their son, Christian, is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan and their daughter Reagan is a student at NWU.
