Kevin Crume begins his 10th season as the defensive coordinator at Nebraska Wesleyan in 2020. Crume has been on the staff at his alma mater for the past 17 seasons.
Crume, a former linebacker at NWU from 1999-2001, had previously served as the linebackers coach and was the NWU special teams coordinator.
During his 17 seasons at Nebraska Wesleyan, Crume has coached a 2-time All-American defensive lineman, an All-American linebacker, two All-American return specialists and 32 All-Conference linebackers. He has been a part of the defensive staff that helped NWU rank in the top ten in the NAIA in scoring defense five different seasons. In 2008, he coached the NWU kick return unit to lead the entire country in return yards.
As defensive coordinator in 2013, Crume’s defense ranked fourth in the nation in scoring defense, fifth in pass defense efficiency and 15th in total defense.
In 2012, Crume’s defense set the school record for rushing defense allowing just 66.0 yards per game, leading the entire NAIA in rush defense. NWU was eighth in total defense and 12th in scoring defense in 2012.
Crume, who attended Bellevue East High School, earned three letters and was the third leading tackler for the Prairie Wolves as a senior in 2001. Crume was part of the 2000 GPAC Regular Season championship team in 2000. He graduated from NWU with a degree in Health & Physical Education in 2002. He earned his Master of Arts in management from Doane College in 2008.
He also serves as the recruiting coordinator for the NWU athletic department.
Crume and his wife Amanda live in Lincoln with their son Brett and daughter Ava.
