Scott Ballinger

Scott Ballinger was promoted to full-time as the Head Baseball Coach of the Nebraska Wesleyan University program in June 2015.  He will also serve as Assistant to the Athletic Director.
 
Ballinger served as the head coach of the Prairie Wolves in 2015 leading the team to an 11-25 overall record, a four-win improvement from the previous season.  He had three players earn All-Conference recognition and one student-athlete was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

Prior to taking over as head coach, Ballinger spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the NWU program.  His primary coaching responsibilities those three years were working with the outfielders and assisting with the pitching staff

He has provided more than 10 years of coaching service in the Lincoln community, including Babe Ruth Baseball and American Legion Baseball. Most recently, he was the varsity assistant coach for the Lincoln East H.S. baseball program from 2006-10.

Ballinger is a product of the Wakefield American Legion baseball program. After High School, he pitched for Des Moines Area Community College from 1994-95. He completed his collegiate career at Wayne State College in 1996-97. At Wayne State he primarily played in the outfield and at first base.

He earned his bachelor's degree in education and humanity sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2007 and a Masters in Arts in historical studies from Nebraska Wesleyan in 2013.

Ballinger, a native of Pender, Neb., currently lives in Lincoln with his wife Kathy and their three boys, Jarrett, Parker and Camden.
