Alex Heideman

Nebraska Wesleyan All-American baseball player Alex Heideman is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Prairie Wolves.

Heideman returned to NWU as an assistant coach after spending one season as an assistant baseball coach at Bethany College in 2014.  During his time at Bethany, his coaching focus was on offensive strategy, outfielders and strength & conditioning.  He was also heavily involved in recruiting, practice planning and was academic liaison to over 40 players.

In his two seasons as a player at NWU, Heideman earned several awards during his record-setting career.  In 2012 he was named an NAIA Honorable mention All-American as an outfielder, the first NAIA All-American in NWU baseball history.  He was a two-time First-Team All-GPAC selection earning it as an outfielder in 2012 and catcher in 2013.

As a senior he led the Prairie Wolves in eight offensive categories, finishing his career with a .387 batting average to rank 7th all-time.  During his two seasons, he set school records for season runs, season doubles and season triples.

He also earned 2nd-Team CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition as a senior in 2013.

The Lincoln, Neb., native earned a bachelor of science degree in political science and criminal justice from Nebraska Wesleyan in May 2013.
