2020-2021: Earned second varsity letter... NWCA Academic All-American, the first wrestler in program history to receive the accolade...won his first match of the year by decision 8-3 over his Simpson opponent... won his next two matches by way of fall (0:47 and 3:43)... went 2-2 at the NWCA National Championship... overall record of 6-6... the Prairie Wolf wrestler's season was limited to conference only duals due to the covid-19 global pandemic. 

2019-2020: Earned first varsity letter... started out the year 2-0... won 9 matches by fall... won 7 matches by decision... earned a record of 17-8 at the 133 weight class. 

Before NWU: Schmidt competed at the University of Nebraska Kearney, an NCAA Division II member, for one season before transferring to NWU.

High School: Earned multiple letters in wrestling... 2nd place finish in 2015 Class B State Championships at 106... 3rd place finish in 2016 Class B State Championships at 113 ..... State Champion in the 2017 Class B State Championships at 113.
