LINCOLN, Neb. - College Sports Communicators announced the 2025 Academic All District Football Teams on Tuesday, and Nebraska Wesleyan placed the maximum eight student athletes on the list for the second straight season.
The honor recognizes excellence on the field and in the classroom, taking into account cumulative grade point average and significant contributions during the 2025 football season. To be eligible, student athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and compete in at least 90 percent or start at least two thirds of their team's games.
Nebraska Wesleyan's eight honorees included Jake Rhodes, Jackson Barron, Joey McLaughlin, Jace Winkler, Jian Aguilar, Owen Anthony, Corbin Horner and Tyler Bohling.
Rhodes, a senior offensive lineman majoring in business administration with a 3.55 GPA, appeared in seven of the Prairie Wolves' 10 games while battling injury along the offensive front. He was also named an American Rivers Conference All-Academic honoree in 2025.
Barron, a junior safety and nursing major with a 3.92 GPA, earned his second straight A-R-C All-Academic distinction. He saw action in nine games this fall and recorded nine tackles in a road contest at the University of Dubuque.
McLaughlin enjoyed a standout season both statistically and academically. The junior wide receiver started every game and finished the year with 66 receptions for 920 yards and nine touchdowns. He was named A-R-C All Conference First Team and Third Team All Region by D3football.com. McLaughlin broke the school record for receptions in a game with 13 at Dubuque and was also an A-R-C All Academic selection. He is majoring in data analytics and carries a 3.60 GPA.
Winkler, a sophomore sport management and business administration major with a perfect 4.00 GPA, played in every game and handled both punting and place kicking duties. He finished the season with 28 punts for 1,098 yards and connected on five field goals, including makes from 44, 45 and 47 yards. Winkler was named A-R-C Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance against Simpson and earned A-R-C All-Academic honors for the second straight year.
Aguilar, a senior linebacker majoring in sport management with a 3.80 GPA, played in every game and totaled 72 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. He posted a career high 13 tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception during the Prairie Wolves' homecoming game against Loras. Aguilar is a three time A-R-C All-Academic honoree and was a CSC Academic All-District selection a season ago.
Anthony anchored the offensive line at guard, starting every game for Nebraska Wesleyan. The senior psychology major with a 3.67 GPA earned A-R-C All-Conference First Team and D3football.com All-Region First Team honors for the second consecutive season. He is a three time A-R-C All Academic selection.
Horner, a junior wide receiver majoring in financial planning with a 3.62 GPA, started every game and finished the season with 26 receptions for 325 yards and a touchdown. He is a two time A-R-CÂ All-Academic honoree.
Bohling, a junior offensive lineman majoring in health and fitness studies with a 3.54 GPA, started every game up front. He has earned A-R-CÂ All-Academic recognition in each of the past two seasons.
Nebraska Wesleyan wrapped up the 2025 campaign with a 1-9 record, but the Prairie Wolves continued to set the standard academically, placing the maximum number of student athletes on the CSC Academic All-District team for the second straight year.
