Women's Soccer Gears Up for Three Match Week

Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer is set to begin a busy week at home Wednesday night, before traveling to Mount Vernon, Iowa, for a pair of matches this weekend.

GAME TIME, LOCATION, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
Nebraska Wesleyan will host Dakota Wesleyan at Abel Stadium, on Wednesday, September 10th, with kick off set for 8:00 p.m. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats. This weekend will see NWU face off against Augustana College at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, before wrapping up the weekend with a 3:00 p.m. match against Cornell College. Cornell College will live stream both games and carry live stats.

A LOOK AT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Nebraska Wesleyan earned a 0-0 tie with Concordia in their last game, while out shooting the Cobbers by a margin of 9-3. Despite the shut out, NWU has displayed a blistering offensive attack through four games, averaging 2.25 goals. and outshooting opponents by a 52-47 margin. Of those 52 shots, 25 have been shots on goal, which equals a 48.1% shots on goal percentage. Leading the offense is the deadly trio of Averie Hike, Emily Abeyta, and Lexi Jantzen, who have combined to score seven of NWU's nine goals this season. Hike has also been a key distributer, leading the team in assists with two. Defensively, the Black and Gold allow 2.75 goals per game, but have allowed just two in their last two games. Jena Schultz leads the team in saves with 13. 

HEAD COACH ROBERT LYNCH
Head Coach Robert Lynch is in his first year as the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan, he holds an 1-2-1 record. 

DYNAMIC OFFENSE
Though the offense has run through Averie Hike, Emily Abeyta, and Lexi Jantzen through four games, several other players have given NWU opportunities to score. Emma Parker and Emily Jasa have each posted one goal, while Nella Castenada has put up three shots on goal. As team chemistry grows, it is only a matter of time before more players start to find the back of the net.

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN WOMEN'S SOCCER TRADITION
Since the program's inception in 1993, Nebraska Wesleyan has won seven conference championships and holds an all-time record of 299-249-38.

SCOUTING DAKOTA WESLEYAN
Dakota Wesleyan enters Wednesday night with a 0-1-2 record. The Tigers settled for a tie with York in their last match. Through three games, the Tigers have scored three goals on 53 shots, and allowed five goals on 28 shots. Dakota Wesleyan is led by John Hakari, in his third season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST DAKOTA WESLEYAN
Wednesday will mark the 11th meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Dakota Wesleyan. The Prairie Wolves lead the series 5-4-1. 

SCOUTING AUGUSTANA
Augustana enters this week with a 0-2-1 record. The Vikings dropped their last contest to UW-Platteville, 4-2. Prior to facing NWU, the Vikings will take on Kalamazoo on Tuesday, September 9th, before playing Cornell College on Friday, September 12th. Through three games, the Vikings have scored two goals on 17 shots, and allowed five goals on 39 shots. Augustana is led by Scott Meija, in his 25th season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST AUGUSTANA
Saturday will mark the third meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Augustana. The Vikings lead the series 2-0.

SCOUTING CORNELL
Cornell enters this week fresh off a 4-0 win over Minnesota Morris, and sporting a 2-1 record. Prior to hosting NWU, the Rams will do battle with Simpson College on Tuesday, September 9th, before hosting Augustana on Friday, September 12th. Through three games, the Rams have scored 10 goals on 55 shots, and allowed three goals on 55 shots. Cornell is led by Sarah Campbell, in her second season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST CORNELL
Sunday will mark the fifth meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Cornell. The Prairie Wolves lead the series 4-0.
