Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Wesleyan is set to open its 2025 home slate against Mayville State, Saturday afternoon.

The Prairie Wolves and Comets will face at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 13th. The game will be played at Abel Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats.

SCOUTING NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Nebraska Wesleyan enters Saturday 0-1 after being dealt a 37-7 loss to Dakota State in their season opener. Nebraska Wesleyan put up 226 yards of total offense, and gave up 338 yards defensively. The Prairie Wolves used two quarterbacks against Dakota State, with Connor White earning the start and throwing for 118 yards on a 60% completion percentage. Later in the game, Keaton Erdmann came in and led NWU on their lone touchdown drive of the game, completing a touchdown to Joey McLaughlin as time expired. In the running game, Trystin Myers rushed for 49 yards on 12 carries, while Nathan Athouris and Keaton Erdmann combined to put up 32 yards on the ground. Defensively, Nebraska Wesleyan held DSU to 197 passing yards, and 141 rushing yards, with Hunter Hanke leading the team with 11 tackles.

HEAD COACH BRIAN KELLER
Coach Brian Keller is in his 30th season at the helm of Nebraska Wesleyan football in 2025, continuing a legendary run as the winningest coach in program history. A Nebraska Wesleyan graduate and former player, Keller has led his alma mater since 1996, compiling a career record of 132-151. 

HOME OPENERS
Since 2003, Nebraska Wesleyan has posted a respectable 9-13 record in home openers, while being outscored 655-550. Nebraska Wesleyan's highest scoring home opener occurred on September 4th, 2021, when NWU defeated Eureka College 69-20 in front of 694 fans. 

FOUR STRAIGHT AGAINST MAYVILLE STATE
Saturday's contest marks the fourth straight season Nebraska Wesleyan has faced Mayville State. The previous three matchups have all been tightly contested, with Mayville State taking a wild 55-48 win in 2022 before NWU answered with back-to-back victories in 2023 (33-30) and 2024 (34-24). 

SCOUTING MAYVILLE STATE
Mayville State enters Saturday 1-1, after falling to Concordia College 17-6 last weekend. The Comets average 27.50 points per game and put up 340 yards per game. MSU has been run heavy thus far, averaging over 300 yards per game on the ground. Defensively, the Comets are stout, allowing just 18.50 points per game. Mayville State is led by Rocky Larson, in his sixth season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST MAYVILLE STATE
Saturday will mark the fourth meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Mayville State. The Prairie Wolves lead the all-time series 2-1.
