Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Equalizer Sends Prairie Wolves to 1-1 Draw at Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. – Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer saw victory slip away in the final seconds on Saturday morning, as Centre netted the tying goal with just nineteen seconds remaining to secure a 1-1 draw in the opening round of the Bob Allen Nissan Classic. The Prairie Wolves move to 1-0-2 on the year, while the Colonels sit at 0-2-1.

The match was originally scheduled for Friday night but was postponed to Saturday morning due to inclement weather in the area.

How It Happened

First Half
It was a frustrating start for NWU, as Centre controlled much of the possession and outshot the Prairie Wolves 5-4 before halftime. Despite the pressure, goalkeeper Graedon Hilton and the back line stood firm to keep the score level at 0-0 going into the break.

Second Half:
The Prairie Wolves regrouped after halftime and created several quality chances. The breakthrough finally came in the 87th minute when junior Owen Glogowski played a perfectly timed ball into the box for junior Max Matthies, who buried the finish for his first goal of the season and the fourth of his career.

Centre responded in heartbreaking fashion, finding the equalizer at the 89:41 mark off the foot of Beckett Bond to secure the 1-1 result.
