Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer dropped Saturday's match against Macalester by a score of 2-0. The Prairie Wolves now sit at 1-1-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
The Prairie Wolves and Scots battled to a 0-0 draw in the first half, as neither team was able to find the back of the net. Despite the score, both teams had chances, with NWU out shooting Macalester 4-3.
Second Half
Macalester put pressure on NWU early in the second half with two shots in the first five minutes. The Scots would break the tie on their third shot of the half, a 52nd minute goal by Nick Kent. Macalester would continue to generate scoring chances, but the Prairie Wolf defense held strong to keep the match 1-0. Nebraska Wesleyan stole some momentum in the 75th minute as
Max Matthies fired a shot on goal that was saved by the Macalester keeper. Matthies shot was the first of four Black and Gold scoring opportunities between the 75th and 83rd minute, none of which finding the back of the net. After surviving the Prairie Wolf attack, Macalester put the game away with a goal in the 88th minute.
