LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan Baseball standouts Theo Hughes, Jake Gerardis, Tommy Fiocchi and Easton Johnson, earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, the organization announced Tuesday.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for excellence on the court and in the classroom. To qualify, nominees must hold a 3.50+ GPA, be key contributors, and compete in at least 90% of their team's games.
Theo Hughes, a senior Pitcher from Seward, Nebraska, Theo had a 5.12 ERA and 62 strikeouts on the season. Theo graduated this spring with his M.B.A and was also named pitcher of the week this season, besides that Theo is also now a 3x Academic All Conference winner.
Jake Geradis, a senior infielder from Prosper, Texas, Jake had a .324 batting average, and led the team in walks as well as a .931 fielding percentage this season. A biology major, and a 2x CSC academic All-District winner, as well as a 3x Academic All Conference winner as well.
Tommy Fiocchi, a senior outfielder from Monument, Colorado, Tommy had a .292 batting average and a .975 fielding percentage. A Business Administration major, and a A-R-C All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Easton Johnson, a junior third baseman from Gilbert, Iowa, Easton had a .324 batting average and led the team in home runs as well as RBIs. Easton also has a .846 fielding percentage. A Exercise Science major, and A-R-C All-Conference second team.
All players led the team to their first A-R-C conference championship game.
The CSC Academic All-America® teams will be announced in June. All of them are now eligible for national selection.
