Prairie Wolves get Convincing 8-3 Win Over Wartburg, Set Up Rematch with Luther

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan stayed alive in the American Rivers Conference Tournament with an 8-3 victory over fourth-seeded Wartburg on Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Prairie Wolves (23-20) advance to face Luther in an elimination game at 6:40 p.m.

How It Happened

Robbie Ross delivered a gem on the mound, and the NWU offense broke open a tight game with a pair of key rallies.

After taking an early 1-0 lead in the first on Duncan Ortega's RBI single, the Prairie Wolves pulled away in the fifth. Easton Johnson's two-run double highlighted a three-run sixth, extending the lead to 6-1. Jake Shedarowich later sealed it with a two-run triple in the eighth.

Ross (W, 2-3) dominated over 7.1 innings, allowing just two earned runs while striking out four. Brady Bell came on in relief to strand the bases loaded in the ninth, preserving the win.
